چکیده
Short-term Time Structure of Cochlear Filtered Sound Leslie S. Smith CCCN, Dept. of Computing Science and Mathematics, University of Stirling Stirling FK9 4LA, Scotland. Abstract Auditory modelling uses the architecture of the auditory system to guide early sound processing. The advantage of this approach is (i) timeresolution is better and (ii) many bandpassed channels are available and can be processed in parallel. Good time-resolution allows sophisticated across-time processing to be applied to each channel, resulting in the discovery of features in each channel. Logically each channel can be processed simultaneously. The features discovered can be correlated across channels. We present some early results for processing sound at three di erent levels of short-term time structure. 1 Auditory Modelling and Spectral Analysis to appear in:John A. Bullinaria, David W. Correlation between Auditory Spectral Resolution and Speech Perception in Children with Cochlear Implants
Background: Variability in speech performance is a major concern for children with cochlear implants (CIs). Spectral resolution is an important acoustic component in speech perception. Considerable variability and limitations of spectral resolution in children with CIs may lead to individual differences in speech performance. The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between auditory ...
متن کاملبررسی اثر فیدبک شنوائی در تولید گفتار بعد از عمل کوکلئار ایمپلنت
The main goal of this study is to determine the auditory feedback effects in improvement of speech production process in prelingual totally deaf children who used cochlear implant prosthesis. For this reason, we recorded speech of four prelingual cochlear implant children pre and post of operation. Then we extract some static features of vowels-such as fundamental frequency, formant frequencies...
متن کاملExtraction of Inter-Aural Time Differences Using a Spiking Neuron Network Model of the Medial Superior Olive
The mammalian auditory system is able to extract temporal and spectral features from sound signals at the two ears. One important cue for localization of low-frequency sound sources in the horizontal plane are inter-aural time differences (ITDs) which are first analyzed in the medial superior olive (MSO) in the brainstem. Neural recordings of ITD tuning curves at various stages along the audito...
متن کاملCornelia De Lange Syndrome and Cochlear Implantation
Introduction: Literature regarding the different degrees of hearing loss in patients with Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CDLS) reports that half of the affected patients exhibit severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss. We present the first pre-school child with CDLS who underwent cochlear implantation for congenital profound sensorineural hearing loss. Case Report: A 3-year-old boy with CD...
متن کاملTemporal and binaural properties in dorsal cochlear nucleus and its output tract.
The dorsal cochlear nucleus (DCN) is one of three nuclei at the terminal zone of the auditory nerve. Axons of its projection neurons course via the dorsal acoustic stria (DAS) to the inferior colliculus (IC), where their signals are integrated with inputs from various other sources. The DCN presumably conveys sensitivity to spectral features, and it has been hypothesized that it plays a role in...
